Since enlightenment is the natural state it actually requires effort to avoid enlightenment. Kurukulle is the symbol of the magnetism of the enlightened state. Since the enlightened state is completely natural you just roll into it; once you finally learn to stop making all that effort to avoid it.
Find a comfortable seat, allowing your spine to be upright, yet relaxed. Let your hands rest gently, and let your breath find a calm, natural rhythm. If you want light a single candle. Let your half-open eyes settle on that flame, gently aware, gently present.
Take a moment to arrive into this present moment. Let your body settle. Let yourself settle into the stillness and silence of this present moment. Silent but alive, like the flickering of a candle flame.
Allow this aliveness and vitality of mind to stir our imagination. Let us use our imagination to play with the vitality of life. Imagine a flicker of color. Red. Dancing. A figure — beautiful, fierce, radiant.
Now bring to heart the presence of Rikjema—The radiant, vital feminine force. The cause of awareness, of life force, the urge to merge.
She is Kurukulle, magnetizing wisdom, the antidote to ignorance. A spark of red fire in your heart.
She is the Buddha of joyful magic — the dancing khandro who brings us back to wonder when life becomes too cold. She is the joy in Dharma. The sparkle of the path. The beautiful magnet that draws us closer to enlightenment through love and awe. Allow yourself to touch and connect with this joyful sparkle.
She blazes like a ruby sun. In one pair of hands, she holds a floral bow and arrow — not to wound, but nail one's intention to their aspiration. Her arrows are made of lotus flowers, and they pierce the hearts of beings with love and compassion.
She is not separate from your awareness. She is the vital pulse of bodhicitta, the ever-beckoning call toward connection, toward awakening. She is warmth, but an alive vibrant energetic warmth of the heart.
Feel this call. Feel this alive, pull. Enlightenment is already your natural state. It takes effort to avoid it. Let that effort dissolve. Let it go. Put everything down. Let yourself roll into the natural state of awareness, as you would slip into a warm bath.
Bring your awareness to your heart. Sense this place of connection within you. The red and white, form and emptiness, coming together at the heart. Breathe into your heart now.
Feel it—not just as an organ, but as a radiant center of being. Heart mind like the sky—vast, clear. And yet… this sky is alive, glowing with vitality, with warmth. Not empty—aware.
Why do red and white come together?
Why does form long for emptiness?
Why does emptiness long for form?
This is love. Love not limited to a person or an outcome, but the urge to merge that is the alive, vibrant, vitality of life itself. This is love opened wide to the universe;
Follow the energy itself. Follow it home. The union of method and wisdom. Of bliss and emptiness. Of clarity and love.
Encompass the form, the delight, the sensory delight of all matter. Its function, its touch, its awareness. Love it! Color, taste, smell. Encompass & embrace; take within yourself all of the dance of infinity. Love it all.
Drop into the energy four fingers below your navel. Breathe down into that space. Feel it alive. Feel the energy rise. Let it ride upward, through the central channel, toward the heart chakra, where red meets white, where form dissolves into light.
Here in the heart chakra. Bring the red fire and the white seed together. Allow that union of method and wisdom, of bodhicitta and emptiness, of the dance of stillness.
Allow infinite open awareness to open wide embracing bodhichitta. Allow bodhichitta, open-hearted great-heartedness to open wide embracing and being embraced by emptiness; and the two dissolve into open awareness. And that's who you really are.
Here, in your heart, the dance of stillness.
Now… Take up your mala, if you wish. And begin the mantra.
OM KU RU KU LE HRI SO HA
Recite gently. Feeling the sound vibrate through your body.
As you chant, visualize:
A radiant light going out from the mantra and the mala. Reaching every being. Establishing them all in complete joy beyond sorrow. Completely loved for every part of who they are. And that same light returns. Back into your heart. Feel yourself established in complete joy beyond sorry. Completely loved for every part of who you are.
Because really, there is no “out” and “in.” They are one. Feel it move in all directions. Through time. Into the micro and macrocosm. Into the dreamtime. And beyond. Let your imagination open. Let your heart open. Send this light everywhere—because there is no there. Only here. Only this.
When you’re done with the mantra, rest. Put it all down.
Let the mantra settle. Let the light shine quietly within you, its rhythm echoing in the cells of your being.
You are this light. You are this awareness. You are this love. And so is everyone.
Rest now, in stillness. In the warm, vast presence of Kurukulle.
