Three parts:
Essential point of the body posture
Essential point of the visualization
How to cleanse the poisonous wind
1: Essential Point of the Body Posture
The essential point of the body posture is the seven-point body posture. This has already been explained earlier, but to summarize they are legs crossed, hand in equipoise, backbone straight, stomach pressed in, neck bent, tongue joining the upper plate, and shoulders lifted back.
2: Essential Point of the Visualization
The essential point of the visualization is to remember the explanation of the hollow interior of the Sambhogakaya and the Nirmanakaya visualizations taught previously.
From within the hollow interior of the Sambhogakaya practice, generate yourself as khandro Thugje Kundrol. Then imagine the three channels from the hollow interior of the Nirmanakaya visualizations taught previously. The right channel is white, the left channel is red, and the central channel is blue.
Then visualize the five chakras as before. They are the great bliss chakra at the crown of the head, the enjoyment chakra at the throat, the chakra of reality at the level of the heart, the emanation chakra at the navel, and the chakra of sustaining bliss at the secret place.
Then visualize the five root winds as before. In the throat chakra is the upwards moving wind in the shape of a yellow parasol/umbrella. In the heart chakra is the life sustaining wind in the shape of a white precious jewel. In the naval chakra is the fire accompanying wind in the shape of a red wheel. In the secret chakra is the downward clearing wind in the shape of a blue bellow. In all the channel petals of the body is the pervasive wind which is shaped like green sun rays.
Also called the Nine Breathing Purification Practice. But the visualization here is slightly different from the general nine breathing purifications practice taught in other teachings.
For men, press your right ring finger with your thumb. Then close your right nostril with your right ring finger. Breathe slowly and deeply through the left nostril. As you breathe in, feel the breath go down the left channel to the junction of the three channels. Then change your nostril, closing your left nostril with the right ring finger. Hold the breath for a moment, then exhale slowly through the right nostril.
When you exhale imagine a reddish-blue mist exiting your nostril which contains your anger, any emotionality associated with anger, as well as any lung disease (diseases of the wind which are diseases associated with body fluids), karmic traces and defilements collected from past lifetimes, and negative forces of male demons. All five of these exit the body as reddish-blue mist expelled from the nostril. Repeat this three times. After the third time, feel the increased openness of clearing the right white channel.
For women the channels are flipped, so flip the instruction to the opposite side, closing your left nostril with the left ring finger, breathing in the right nostril, then swap closing the right nostril and breathe out the left red channel and nostril.
For men, press your left ring finger with your thumb. Then close your left nostril with your left ring finger. Breathe slowly and deeply through the right nostril. As you breathe in, feel the breath go down the right channel to the junction of the three channels. Then change your nostril, closing your right nostril with the left ring finger. Hold the breath for a moment, then exhale normally (medium intensity) through the left nostril.
When you exhale imagine a yellowish-red mist exiting your nostril which contains your desire and attachment, any emotionality associated with desire and attachment, as well as any bile disease, karmic traces and defilements collected from future lifetimes, and negative forces of female demons. All five of these exit the body as yellowish-red mist expelled from the nostril. Repeat this three times. After the third time, feel the increased openness of clearing the left red channel.
For women, do the opposite.
Instructions are the same for men and women.
Inhale slowly and deeply through both nostrils. As you breathe in, feel the breath go down both side channels to the junction of the three channels and up the central channel. Hold the breath for a moment, then exhale powerfully. As you exhale, feel the breath go up the central channel and out the crown of the head.
When you exhale imagine a dark red mist exiting the crown of the head which contains your ignorance and confusion, any emotionality associated with ignorance and confusion, as well as any phlegm disease, karmic traces and defilements collected from present lifetimes, and negative forces of naga demons. All five of these exit the body as dark red mist expelled from the crown of the head. Repeat this three times. After the third time, feel the increased openness of clearing the central blue channel.
After clearing all three channels (nine times total) rest for a few moments allowing the space of the resting wind in the wisdom wind to abide.
This practice is excellent for when you have a headache, or have any elemental imbalance which can cause laziness. You can do this practice each morning in bed before you get up. As well as when you lay down to go to sleep at night. You can just visualize the three channels and not khandro Thugje Kundrol for these bed practices. It can help your mind be calm and fresh at the start and end of the day. It also blesses the mind and connects one to the great masters.
Geshela notes that the root text states two ways of practice; one for men and one for women. This is why he taught us this way, because it is what the root text says. However, it is his personal understanding through practice that both men and women can practice the same way (the male way) as at the time of practice we are khandro Thugje Kundrol who represents the natural state of mind which is beyond gender or body.
