"If we practice Dzogchen, then there is no need to do Phowa in the Tantric fashion, because we are already integrated with the Natural State. When we transfer, we leave behind the negative emotions and become naked."
If we can, sit in the five-fold posture. We can relax and bring our attention to our body. Connect with stillness, silence, and openness.
First we need to visualize the three channels of light in our body. The right white channel. The left red channel. And the center blue channel. For this meditation we only need to focus on the blue central channel. Then in the center of the heart visualize your mind or consciousness transformed into a white A or you can use a white sphere if you don’t know what it looks like. This white sphere resides in the center of your heart which is connecting through the central channel. Your consciousness is this white sphere in the center of your heart in the central channel.
Then inhale slowly and deeply through both nostrils which are connected to the left and right channels. This breath goes down both of the side channels and arrives at the junction of the three channels below the navel and comes up through the central channel to the center of the heart.
When it gets to the center of the heart, exclaim “Phet!” When you say “Phet!” this breath/wind instantly pushes the white sphere (essence of our consciousness) upward and comes out through the crown of the head. It travels up into the space above the head one forearm length (elbow to fingertips.) At this space above the head visualize Kuntuzangpo, the essence of reality. Kuntuzangpo is naked without form, without substance. He is clear blue like the sky, sitting in a rainbow light wheel.
When you say “Phet!” this breath/wind instantly transfers through the central channel out the crown of the head and dissolves into Kuntuzangpo. Then rest in this dissolution space.
Then say “KA” slowly and smoothly, in which the white sphere “A” slowly comes down from the heart essence of Kuntuzangpo back down the central channel and stays in the center of the heart.
This is one time. Do this entire cycle three times. Then relax and focus on the white sphere in the center of the heart. It is beneficial to do this seven or twenty-one times or in one day, do four sessions. At least we can do one session at early morning or in the evening.
